Dartford Crossing
No more toll booths from tomorrow and an extra 50p per trip for a car.
Pay online or by text or get fined, unless you drive a foreign plated vehicle of course, you can cross for free.

A wonderful cash cow for the Government.....

Re: Dartford Crossing
That will be a Liberty charging for Blackwell tunnel. Will then have to pay cc charge on top will make it so expensive travelling into London.

However, I suppose the government see how much the french make out the Dartford crossing and see the opportunity!

They need to do it the same way as cc London and now the Dartford crossing with the recognition system. Barriers would cause congestion back to bloody Dover!

Re: Dartford Crossing
If your a landlord and wish to let your property you have to pay for a licence in the boroughs of Newham, Barking & Dagenham and now just got a letter to say Redbridge is starting as well.

Money always going out, then the tax man wants the rest! cu*tsss

Re: Dartford Crossing
I think you will find that they will start charging tolls for crossing any bridge or tunnel in and out of London over the coming years.

Indirect taxes have been the choice of weapon for many years now. There is a new environmental tax to be implemented for central London and a proposal for diesel vehicles to be banned.

They have temporary re-aligned the road around the booths. They will no do all the works to remove the booth and put the proper road system in place.

Loafer, link for Mrs L?

You know the rules....

Re: Dartford Crossing
Mrs Loafer travels Essex to Kent every day for work and has just reported in that the bridge was clear and traffic moving without a problem through the new system. She arrived 30 minutes early for work. Hope it stays that way. Probably won't though.

Assuming they are all capable of steering correctly even if giving the road their full attention. Personally I'm not convinced of this.

Re: Dartford Crossing
If people looked at the road when driving, instead of their phones it would be ok Bungo.

Re: Dartford Crossing
I can see that you couldn't just open the barriers even if the auto pay is operational as people would be attempting to drive between the booths at 70 mph.

If that happened I would give it maybe 10 mins before somebody crashed into a booth..

bell 9:16 Mon Dec 1
Re: Dartford Crossing
Billy, think they are still there and the barriers are still down, like ifyou go across after ten PM.

Although, I'm off work today so won't know for sure until tomorrow morning.

Re: Dartford Crossing
Serious question.
Have the barriers gone now and you just drive through and cameras pick up your reg number aka the congestion zone or are they still there?

Sorry ray I thought the prepay amount had gone down. My mistake.

Re: Dartford Crossing
Essex and Kent are all related somewhere along the line. Don't know why they haven't built another shopping centre there to join up with the other two so everyone can get along, could call it Lakewater.
